Simplicity 7209 men's tie pattern from 1975. One size fits all, 4 1/2" wide. All four pieces present and uncut. There are transfers for ladybug, pig, Art Nouveau, and monogram designs, although who knows how well transfers work after 40 years. Instructions included.
Suggested fabrics: Tie silk, surah, shantung, silk linen, satin, silk and worsted, linen, challis, sateen, chambray, velvet, velveteen.
Fabric required:
Tie—even or uneven lengthwise striped or plain fabric:
1 yard 35" or 36" fabric with or without nap
1 yard 44", 45", 54", 58", or 60" fabric with or without nap
Tie—even or uneven crosswise striped fabric
3/4 yard 35" or 36" fabric with or without nap
3/4 yard 44", 45", 54", 58", or 60" fabric with or without nap
Extra fabric needed to match plaids, stripes, and one-way designs. Use nap yardage and nap layouts for sating and one-way design fabrics. Not suitable for obvious diagonal fabrics.
Interfacing: 5/8 yard of 23", 25", 32", 35", or 36" woven or non-woven, fusible or non-fusible.
Sewing notions: Thread, 6 strand cotton embroidery floss (optional).
The envelope smells a bit, probably from being stored in some dank basement in Newport, RI; the contents, less so.
